Announcing InterMapper© 5.1
Major Features
- Probe Groups: Probe Groups allows you to include multiple probes targeting the same IP address in a single icon on a map. The Probe Group shows the status of the worst status among the probes in the group. A Probe Group counts as a single device against your license count.
- SMS Notifiers: SMS notifiers allow you to send SMS notifications directly to a cell phone using a cellular (GSM or CDMA) modem, rather than relying on TAP or email gateways.
- Google Earth Integration: InterMapper can export information to Google Earth via HTTP.
- InterMapper Database: We continue to enhance and test the InterMapper Database. Please see the InterMapper Database Changes in 5.1 tech note for a detailed description of the new features and enhancements.
Minor Features
- Grid Layout: InterMapper RemoteAccess now includes another "Arrange" option, "Grid", which allows you to specify that the selected icons should be laid out in a grid, using the number of rows or columns and spacing you specify, sorted by label or size.
- Command-line Import/Export Capabilities: InterMapper RemoteAccess now supports the "--importmap" and "--exportmap" command-line options, which allow you to import or export maps from an InterMapper server via the command-line, which is handy for scripting.
- Insert Icon: InterMapper RemoteAccess now allows you to place an icon or image on a map. This is a shortcut for inserting a new, unnamed network, then setting its icon.
- Server Logs Preference Pane: InterMapper RemoteAccess has a new "Server Logs" preference pane which allows you to adjust the size of the scrollback buffer for log windows.
- Global Device List Actions: More actions are available in for devices in the global device list.
InterMapper Remote Access
Are you at your desk 24/7?
Of course not! Most network managers travel about – from one server room to another, across the office park and back, to remote offices in other cities, and after a good day, they go home at night. Unfortunately, network problems don't wait until technicians are at their desk with network management applications and diagnostic tools within easy reach.
Extend your reach with InterMapper RemoteAccess™, an optional add-on that gives you and your staff access to maps, submaps, and configuration options from any connected location.
- Complete InterMapper Access
- View and create maps
- Open reports and status windows
- Drill-down to sub-maps
- Configure InterMapper servers
- Acknowledge alarms
InterMapper Wireless Probe Pack
Monitor your fixed wireless gear
The InterMapper Wireless Probe Pack adds information about wireless gear to InterMapper maps and reports. You'll monitor CPE, access points, and backhauls along with servers, routers, hubs, switches, WAN and LAN links.
InterMapper scales across any wired and wireless network. Your installation easily grows as you add subscribers, access points, and equipment. By tracking critical gear status on a map, you'll know just where to go to make repairs (which radio and which tower) – and what repairs are needed.
Customers report InterMapper and the InterMapper Wireless Probe Pack yields return on investment by:
- reducing number of support calls and increasing customer satisfaction
- decreasing network downtime and associated lost business
- eliminating unneeded trips to remote or off-site locations
- increasing service levels without increasing headcount

We love our new Barracuda SPAM Firewall. We knew we had a SPAM problem but never knew the extent of it, 80% of our incoming mail was SPAM. We were managing without the SPAM filter but now that we have the Barracuda in place we don't know how we ever lived without it.
Thank you Barracuda Networks & Optrics Engineering!

I just wanted to let you know that we have decided to keep the Barracuda. As a matter a fact, we wouldn't dream of giving it back. The box is doing an excellent job of reducing our spam to an almost non-existent state.
As well we were very pleased with the Tech Support provided by
Shaun [from Optrics]. He is very knowledgeable and always steered us in the right direction.
