Optrics' Professional Profiles

As the founder and current President and CEO of Optrics Engineering, Bording has over 25 years of business experience, starting out as a self-financed entrepreneur. He has been active in a several industries including the financial industry where he also started FundSoft Information Systems (www.FundSoft.com).

Bording grew up on a mixed dairy and grain farm in Central Alberta and continues to be active in the agricultural industry as an active partner in an 1800-acre agri-business. Hobbies include collecting and restoring special-interest automobiles and the modification and tuning of high-performance automobiles as active engineering and marketing projects.

Bording holds two degrees with First Class standing from the University of Alberta; a B.Sc. in Math Physics and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering. He has been a practicing Professional Engineer since obtaining his professional license in 1992 and he is currently the Responsible Member for Optrics' Permit to Practice. Blair Zingle is responsible for day-to-day operations at Optrics. Prior to joining Optrics, Blair ran his own consulting company and has over 8 years experience with business management, analysis, programming, database design and Internet marketing. As one of the original partners at Optrics he worked to build the information systems that helped make the company a success.

Blair holds a Diploma in Computer Systems Technology from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Scott Young joined Optrics Engineering in 2003 and is responsible for the hands on management of the accounting, finance, marketing and human resources functions of the company. He has focused on developing online marketing strategies as well as improving the operational procedures within the organization. Prior to joining Optrics, Scott was the Assistant Director of the Executive Education Center at the University of Alberta School of Business.

Scott holds an MBA from the University of Alberta as well as a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Ottawa.

Shaun Sturby has been an active member in the computer and electronics industry since the mid 1980s. His extensive knowledge and experience make him ideally suited for providing consulting, training, troubleshooting and technical support for high-end network monitoring and management solutions. In his capacity as Technical Services Manager at Optrics Engineering, Shaun oversees the daily resolution of network issues for organizations all over North America and the globe.

A Microsoft Certified Trainer since the mid 1990s and Novell Certified network administrator, Shaun has acquired extensive hands-on experience in wireless and wired networking, LAN and WAN technologies, UNIX and Cisco Router Administration - often reaching back to when these technologies were in their infancy.
